Visitors are welcomed all year long by a guide dressed with our traditional costume. A Welcoming Dance is also offered to our guest.
The visit consist :
Visit to the Long House, Hurons traditional housing. Presentation on the Hurons way of life.
Visit of the Smokehouse and the Drying tent. Comments on methods of food preservation.
Sweatinf Tent. Presentation on purification techniques used by our ancestors. Visitors are invited to be purified by the Shaman (May to October).
We make a stop at Giant Tee Pee. Information about the way of life of Indians from different Nations.
Presentation on traditional means of transportation and on the making of canoes and snowshoes. Visitors are invited to take place in one of the great canoes to listen to the guides presentation.
Historical review of the trading that took place between the French and the Hurons in 1750.
Meeting with the Clan Mother who carries on with traditional chores.
Presentation on the present life of Hurons in the Village of Wendake.
The guided tour is offered all year long comes rain or shine. All exhibits are covered in case of rain or snow and can accommodate an entire group.
The guided tour lasts approximately 2 hours which includes free time to allow visitors to go back to the site, take pictures and visit our many shops.
