TO THE HEART OF OUR ROOTS

This package includes creating a traditional pearl necklace which was, like other jewellery, the only personal thing a Huron could possess. All other goods belonged to the community.

Guided tour of the site:

• Annonchia: visit of the maison longue ;
• Explanation of the Huron way of life prior to the European arrival;
• Comment on the traditional way of life;
• Explanation of the size of the Long House, the number of people living in it, the construction materials used etc.

Inside Activities:

• Introduction to animal skins;
• History of the Huron-Wendat, reading of a map and telling of the legend of the creation of the World;
• Meaning of the mask, of the "False-Faces" and legend.

Special Activity:

Making of a traditional pearl necklace.

Take part in our drawing contest. There will be a draw for giftcertificate at mid-june.
